The Slope

Posted by: Naaman

This secret location is tucked away in the deep woods and reveals an impressive facade.
Once inside one may find a 50° slope that descends into the flooded darkness.

  1. Just found this blog an I love it. It's a shame you didn't take any pictures of the Eureka No. 4 mine in Helena, AL before they demolished it. I'm sure it would've been hard to get to it without getting in trouble though.

  4. My friend and I would like to go there. Is there a chance you could give us a way to get there?

  5. This is now State of Alabama property - Red Mountain Park and is closed to public access. Hopefully it can be opened to the public, in the future, as safety issues are addressed.. No we do not plan to destroy the mine. just close open access to it... The Bessemer Police and the Park Rangers patrol the property.. Bessemer has a nice new jail, if you would like to try your luck on being there on a day that we are not... Happy New Year.

  6. Have you ever explored the old TCI mines in Sandusky? Many of my ancestors dug coal there. I am not sure if they are still accessible.

  7. They likely aren't accessible as I have never heard of anyone going in
