A while back, Exothermic sent me an email.
It had this picture and the name of a city:
Mission: FIND THIS THING
We searched using all known methods with no success.
Then one day, purely by accident, I found it.
The Ice Cream Castle.
Victim of a handful of tornadoes and a fire. Who knows in what order.

ReplyDelete11 months but who is counting
ReplyDeleteFinally found this place, it has over grown a great deal.
ReplyDeleteAny tips on the methods for finding places? I pretty much look at satellite images, Google names of things, and look at your post tags. I'm new to exploring Birmingham and so far have been to a golf course, factory in childersburg (next to the one you explored) and the spiral stairs country club in your blog.
ReplyDeleteKeep looking
DeleteThis place is amazing! I can't find any history on the place, or a location other than Forestdale. Do you know anything about it or how to find it again?
ReplyDeleteIt's visible from the primary highway
DeleteWhat was this place once used for
ReplyDeleteIt was someone's house.
DeleteVisible from Hwy 78? In forestdale or past the welcome to birmingham sign?
ReplyDeleteIn Forestdale. Again, it's been a while.
DeleteRecently visited the site of the Ice Cream Castle. Sorry to report that it has been razed, along with my idea to turn the area into a memorial garden dedicated to the victims of the April 2011 storms. If you know of a fitting property for such a garden, please let me know. Enjoy the pics! Rot On!
