 Marc Steel was originally built in the late 1800's, with additions to the structure having been made in 1950.

I passed by this place a million times and after getting my fill of seeing it from the interstate, I ventured in.

Pizitz Department Store: Locked up Tight

 The Pizitz downtown flagship department store was built in 1925. The building was completely shut down in 1988. The parking deck was added next to the store in 1965, with a skywalk that took shoppers into the store. Today, entry requires ninja skills of over 9,000, a grappling hook and a friend. The site offers rooftop adventures thus far unparalleled in Birmingham.
